linkSunderland identify Wigan Athletic star as potential Anthony Patterson replacementSunderland are being linked with an impressive League One player ahead of the summer. Ahead of the summer transfer window, a lot of talk regarding Sunderland is about players potentially leaving. And there’s a lot who could move on. Jack Clarke feels like the main one and the most inevitable player to move on, following another standout season in the second tier. Then there’s the likes of Dan Neil, Pierre Ekwah, and Dan Ballard who’ve all has Premier League suitors this season; most recently, Everton have been linked with Ballard. Trai Hume is now wanted by Aston Villa and several other clubs, whilst goalkeeper Anthony Patterson has his share of suitors. Liverpool linked with Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson Earlier in the season, it was claimed that Liverpool were interested in Sunderland goalkeeper Patterson. The 23-year-old academy graduate already has 117 total appearances for the Black Cats, having played in every minute of the 2023/24 Championship season so far with 10 clean sheets to his name. More recently, transfer expert Graeme Bailey exclusively revealed to Sunderland AFC News that ‘a lot of clubs’ are keeping tabs on Patterson ahead of the summer transfer window. And amid interest in Patterson, Sunderland have now been linked with Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Sam Tickle. Alan Nixon says that the Black Cats are currently ‘checking on’ the England U21 man who’s played 40 times in League One for Wigan this season, keeping 13 clean sheets. Nixon also adds that Sunderland want ‘around’ £20million for Patterson, but that Wigan will want ‘a decent sum themselves’. Who is Sam Tickle Tickle, 22, has risen through the youth ranks at Wigan Athletic, making his league debut last season. But this season has been his breakthrough campaign with Tickle emerging as one of the top goalkeepers in League One; he has the seventh-most clean sheets in League One this season and averages 2.9 saves per game (Sofascore), compared to Patterson’s 2.8. Latics boss Shaun Maloney has described Tickle as an ‘incredible’ player. Big summer ahead for Kristjaan Speakman and Sunderland There’s certainly a lot of work to do at the Stadium of Light this summer. Not only do Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and sporting director Kristjaan Speakman have a new manager to appoint, but there’s also plenty of gaps in the squad to fill. Experience is needed and strikers too. And with certainly players looking likely to move on, there’ll be more and more gaps opening up; but with Patterson and Clarke potentially going for big fees, there could be a bit of money available for the club to spend. Tickle could be one of the players heading to Wearside this summer. He’s certainly catching the eye in League One and with the Young Lions and his stats are impressive, especially given Wigan Athletic’s mixed season in League One. Tickle is a good shot-stopper and he’s in the age demographic of Sunderland’s transfer philosophy, though whether he could make the step up to the Championship after just one season in League One remains to be seen. It could be a gamble from Sunderland and indeed for Tickle, who could quickly find himself playing no.2 if he doesn’t impress. But it seems like Speakman and co are getting their summer transfer plans in place.

linkSunderland move for Hammers contract rebelSunderland are reportedly eyeing a move for West Ham striker Divin Mubama in an attempt to bolster their struggling forward line. Mubama, a product of the West Ham academy, is set to become a free agent at the end of the season after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract. Despite his potential, Mubama has found opportunities limited under David Moyes, often playing second fiddle to Danny Ings when Moyes opts to use a striker as a substitute. Sunderland already have a positive relationship with West Ham, having previously signed Pierre Ekwah and Aji Alese. If Sunderland were to secure Mubama’s signature, a tribunal would determine the transfer fee. Sunderland move for Hammers contract rebel Mubama The Academy of Football? Sunderland move for Hammers contract rebel Mubama Scoring goals has been a major challenge for Sunderland this season, hampering their chances of mounting a serious playoff challenge. Last season’s top scorer, Amad Diallo has departed after his loan expired. Winger Jack Clarke has stepped up, netting 15 goals in 33 league appearances. However, the lack of support from traditional strikers has been evident. Sunderland’s four primary number nines managing just three league goals between them. However, in some instances, players like Alex Pritchard and Jobe Bellingham have been preferred in attacking roles. Clarke remains a transfer target for West Ham with Tim Steidten actively looking to recruit a winger and striker during the next transfer window

Fecking unreal some people, like to know what they are on, Jobe is as much as a striker as I am a neuro surgeon
Especially the ones who say Dan Neil is a good player 😜🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰

Aye . . . . Dan Neil's rubbish, which is probably why Premier clubs (like Liverpool) are interested in him 😄 Aye, just like Villa were 'interested' in him and were going to buy him two seasons ago. And he ain't improved. Don't kid yourself Gordon that Liverpool would even have a second look at him. He's not good enough for the EPL and time will eventually confirm my thoughts. He doesn't score goals, he doesn't go in for 50-50 tackles, he doesn't drive us forward, he's not quick enough to track back, he gets caught on the ball time and time again as he wants far too much time and wants to try to dummy the opposition and spin on the ball, which never works, he doesn't win any headers and he can't kill or control a ball, he traps a ball further than I could kick it. Apart from that ...........🤔🤔

linkSunderland could throw Championship lifeline to 27-year-old if club are relegatedSunderland are interested in a move for Birmingham City midfielder Paik Seung-ho this summer, according to a report by Football Insider. Sunderland wanted to land the South Korea international in the January transfer window. Seung-ho, 27, ended up joining the Blues instead on a two-and-a-half year deal. However, in this latest update regarding his situation by Football Insider, the Black Cats are ‘plotting’ a new move for him at the end of this season. Sunderland eye Birmingham City man Seung-ho’s future at Birmingham City may well depend on what league they are playing in next term. They are fighting for their lives right now under Gary Rowett with two fixtures left to play. It is unlikely that he would stick around with the Midlands outfit if they slip into League One. Sunderland could throw him a Championship lifeline as they look to prepare for the next campaign. The North East club have a big decision to make on who to bring in as their next permanent manager with Mike Dodds still in interim charge following Michael Beale’s exit. Seung-ho would give the Black Cats more competition and depth in the middle of the park and would also inject experience into their youthful ranks. He was on the books at Barcelona as a youngster before going on to have permanent spells at Peralada and Girona. The Seoul-born man moved to Germany in 2019 and spent two years at Darmstadt, both of which were in the Bundesliga.2. Seung-ho then switched to Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the K-League and made 106 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with 11 goals. Birmingham City’s focus right now is on staying up after their 0-0 draw away at Rotherham United over the weekend. They are back in action on Saturday with a crucial away trip to Huddersfield Town before they face Norwich City on the final day.

Supposedly we are not going to take up the offer of buying Styles, big mistake for me, he's been playing well and showing he could hack it in this league, actually rate him higher than Neil.

linkThe season-defining summer signing that would make Sunderland instant automatic promotion contendersJack Dawson Which former Sunderland favourite the Black Cats could sign this summer which would put them in immediate contention for promotion. This summer is the biggest at the Stadium of Light for a few seasons. The club are still without a permanent manager with many of the Black Cats’ first-team linked away. Stars such as Jack Clarke and Antony Patterson have both attracted interest from Premier League clubs. Jobe Bellingham was also linked to European sides such as Lazio earlier this year. Therefore, the Sunderland owners must ensure the next three months go right or they risk the club going backwards. However, there is one former fan favourite who looks set to become available this summer which could transform the club ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. Jordan Henderson’s Ajax future is in doubt Jordan Henderson has had a torrid last year. After leaving Liverpool for Saudi Arabia, his stay in the Middle East did not last, as he moved to Ajax mid-season. However, it looks as if his time in the Dutch capital is coming to an end. Journalist David Ornstein believes that his future at Ajax is uncertain after the club failed to get Champions League or Europa League football. As a result, there is a belief that the midfielder could be available this summer. Henderson is still an England international and is likely to be selected for the Euros. However, with the midfielder entering the twilight of his career, there may be an opportunity for Sunderland to convince the prestigious player to rejoin his hometown club. Sunderland should do everything in their power to lure Jordan Henderson to the clubThe experience Henderson could add to Sunderland would be priceless. The midfielder has won everything at club level and would add something that no other squad in the division would have. While it may seem like a pipedream, plenty of players have dropped into the Championship after an illustrious career. Most recently, Aaron Ramsey, who is the same age as Henderson, left French giants Nice to sign for Cardiff City last summer. If he is to depart the Dutch giants, it is unlikely that he will attract interest from a Premier League outfit. Therefore, a return to his hometown club may seem appealing. However, a major stumbling block could be the wages. According to The Mirror, at Ajax Henderson is earning a base salary of £85,000 per week. A massive wage cut would be needed for the transfer to be possible. However, with Henderson already earning millions throughout his career, he may accept a big salary cut to completed the move. If Sunderland could get it over the line, the quality and leadership Henderson possesses would instantly push them higher up the table. The Black Cats’ first team is littered with young players with great potential. Adding a player of Henderson’s experience to the dressing room would only enhance their abilities for the upcoming season and beyond. While the owners prefer to sign young and upcoming talents, if there is even a hint of interest from Henderson they must do everything in their power to bring him in. Promotion would instantly be on the cards and it would send a real statement of intent to the rest of the Championship
