So long as a manager is identified and in place soon enough to allow team changes and building I won't be too concerned.
Ross (so far) has achieved what was asked of him, but the style of play and tactics have been, like himself, dour.

Ross (so far) has achieved what was asked of him, but the style of play and tactics have been, like himself, dour. If we don't go up, I think if Ross was nabbed by another club that would be best all round. Would save his reputation and we would be able to get someone with a different football philosophy. However, if we go up then I would be happy with Ross building towards the premier over a few seasons.

www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/sunderland-afc/ex-sunderland-manager-emerges-as-surprising-contender-for-scotland-job-as-jack-ross-chances-fade-1-9744155Ex-Sunderland manager emerges as surprising contender for Scotland job - as Jack Ross' chances fadeFormer Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat has emerged as a surprise contender for the Scotland manager's job. The Dutchman led memorably Sunderland to survival in 201 before resigning weeks into the next campaign, and has enjoyed an illustrious managerial career. A large deal of his time in the dugout has seen him lead international teams with Advocaat having managed the Netherlands, Serbia, Russia and South Korea, among others. And the 71-year-old could be set to take on a fresh challenge, with the Scotland managerial job firmly in his sights. Reports from north of the border have suggested that Advocaat - currently in charge of Utrecht in his homeland - is keen on taking the job. Indeed, the Scottish Sun claim that he has even told the Scottish FA that he would be willing to work with a young, Scottish backroom staff in order to secure the job, And the odds on Advocaat taking the job have plummeted in recent days, with the ex-Sunderland chief now 10/1 to take the reigns. Another former Black Cats boss, David Moyes, remains the strong favourite. Meanwhile, Sunderland manager Jack Ross' odds have faded. He was tipped to be on the SFA's shortlist for the job, but bookmakers are now making him a heavy outsider at 25/1.

Hardly surprising considering the last 6 weeks of football at this club.

Hardly surprising considering the last 6 weeks of football at this club. Do me a favour. Our form is right out of the Scotland formbook. Perfect fit! On a serious level though, I do think Ross' style of play is far better suited to international football than league football. Might be the best thing if he became Scotland manager.

www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/sunderland-linked-move-wigan-athletic-16228457Sunderland linked with a move for a Wigan Athletic defender - should they win promotionWigan defender Cedric Kipre (L) has been linked with Sunderland (Image: BIRMINGHAM MAIL) Sunderland have been linked with a move for Wigan Athletic defender Cedric Kipre. According to a report in the Sunday People, Sunderland will launch a move for the 22-year-old centre-half should they win promotion to the Championship. The Black Cats have ended the season in disappointing fashion with a run of one win in seven games condemning them to the play-offs as they come up short in their bid to win automatic promotion from League One. Nonetheless, the report claims they are already making some preparations for life in the Championship by monitoring Kipre’s situation. Sunderland’s defence has come under fire in recent weeks and Kipre has proven to be an able performer at Championship level. Having joined the Latics from Motherwell in the summer, Kipre has made 41 appearances in all competitions and has helped Paul Cook’s side preserve their Championship status following promotion from League One last term. It is believed Wigan would be reluctant to allow him to leave in the summer, with his contract at the DW Stadium running until 2021, but Sunderland did manage to prise Will Grigg away from them during the January transfer window. Sunderland's play-off bid begins on Saturday, May 11, with the action getting underway at 7:30pm from the Stadium of Light.

www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/05/07/do-chairmans-lawrence-shankland-admission-should-put-celtic-and/Chairman's Lawrence Shankland admission should put Celtic and Sunderland on red alertAyr United striker Lawrence Shankland has been linked with Sunderland and Scottish Premiership champions Celtic. Anyone looking to sign a prolific goal-scorer on the cheap this summer should be on red alert, with the chairman of Ayr United admitting that Lawrence Shankland is all but certain to leave the club this summer (Herald Scotland). The 23-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable 2018/19 campaign, scoring 34 goals in 39 games in all competitions. Wales Online have claimed that Celtic, Sunderland and Swansea City are all interested in signing Shankland on a free when his contract expires in the summer. He could also be an option for Rangers with the Scotland U21 international telling the Scottish Sun that walking out at Ibrox sends a ‘shiver down your spine’. Shankland is known to be a lifelong Gers fanatic. And Ayr’s chairman Lachlan Cameron has now admitted that the second-tier outfit are powerless to prevent Shankland from taking the next step in his career. “I can’t see any situation where we would be able to hold on to Lawrence,” admitted Cameron. “We won’t stand in his way.” With Timothy Weah and Oliver Burke set to leave Celtic when their loan deals expire, the Scottish Premiership champions may be in need of another goalscorer and it might be worth taking a risk on a player who is crying out for a chance in the top tier. It remains to be seen whether Rangers will also make a move for a player who would surely jump at the chance to move to Ibrox.

Won't come to us if a) we don't go up and b) we continue to play one up front. So basically he won't come to us.

Following relegation to League One, the Bairns are undergoing upheaval on and off the park. Fifteen players have left or will be leaving the club, while Margaret Lang is stepping down from her role as chairwoman. In addition, shareholder Martin Ritchie will leave the board in July after stating his intention to quite. The Scottish Sun report that Campbell, a stockbroker, is leading a US-Asian consortium to takeover the club, with talks having taking place with Falkirk shareholders. Among the group of Falkirk shareholders, who hold 62 per cent, is Sandy Alexander, the businessman behind Schuh, who invested £2.5million to fund the third stand at the club's ground. It is believed the consortium, with money from the Far East, are interested in the land around the stadium which is currently owned by Falkirk council. They face competition with other bidders interested, including a fan-owned model. However, one businessman who is lining up a move for Falkirk failed to show for a meeting on Tuesday. The takeover has added intrigue with the consortium's interest in Sunderland. Campbell is leading a buyout of the English League One side with ex-Celtic recruitment supremo John Park eyed as a potential director of football. If both clubs were to be taken over it could see Falkirk become a feeder club for Sunderland.
