This approach went well for the English FA last time they came knocking for our manager.

Where have you heard the story Hummy? Just a reminder we have "The Rumour Mill" thread for rumours π Read it somewhere. Thought it would warrant a thread of its own, particularly if it is true. Scotland were less than convincing against the Faroe Islands the other night. Scotland were less than convincing against the Faroe Islands the other night.Missed that one

They thought they were playing the Faroe Islands but ended up playing San Marino instead.

It could all be so much worse.
We are third in the table with games in hand.
We have scored in every game but one.
We are off to Wembley for a (minor) Cup Final this week.
Yup. The seasons been a total failure so far.
SACK THE MANAGER.

www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/sunderland-transfer-rumour-stewart-downing-16028221Sunderland reportedly join Rangers in the race to sign Middlesbrough winger Stewart DowningDowning could return to Sunderland for a second spell as his contract stand-off with Middlesbrough continues to rumble on Sunderland have reportedly joined Rangers in the race to sign Stewart Downing from Middlesbrough in the summer. Downing is set to be available on a free transfer in the summer with his bizarre contract situation no nearer reaching a conclusion. The 34-year-old winger has not started a Middlesbrough game since December 29. He had started 22 times for Boro in the Championship this season prior to that game and a 23rd start would trigger a one-year contract extension at the Riverside Stadium. Manager Tony Pulis has been instructed not to start Pulis π due to fears the club would not be able to afford his Premier League level wages if they do not win promotion this season. Pulis has still used Downing from the bench but with nine games remaining this season, it is looking increasingly likely he will leave the club on a free transfer. Downing's former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard is said to be weighing up a move to bring him to Rangers but the England international is said to prefer to stay in the North East to stay close to his family. As a result, that would leave Sunderland top of the queue of potential suitors. If the Black Cats win promotion, it is believed Ross will contemplate making a move for the former Aston Villa star. Downing has played for Sunderland in the past, spending six weeks on loan at the Stadium of Light in 2003. As well as Sunderland and Rangers, a number of other English clubs and clubs in MLS are said to be monitoring Downing' situation.

Why would he take a drop in wages to join us if he won't take a drop at Boro - doesn't make sense to me

Why would he take a drop in wages to join us if he won't take a drop at Boro - doesn't make sense to me When he dropped into The Ch/Sp to rejoin his boyhood Club, Middlesbrough, there were quite a few Prem Clubs, including us, after him. Had he stayed in The Prem he could well have earned more Caps, he was in a rare run of form but it was a case of his heart ruling. Overall though the move didn't go as well as it might have. Halfway through his contract Boro tried to transfer him after buying a replacement. However he got his place back but I guess the gloss had gone for him. The press hinted at bad feelings but I never saw any details. The current situation seems to underline the breakdown. But his problems with Boro are not our concern. What matters is do we need a left back and is Downing the best option if we do. I'm a fan of his but as a Sunderland fan I think we should be looking ahead. At best he would be a sticking plaster solution. Acceptable if it's a cheap answer, otherwise not.

rokerreport.sbnation.com/2019/4/6/18297425/roker-roundup-edin-dzeko-to-sunderland-really-mackems-break-wycombe-gate-receipt-recordUnlikely transfer linkWith the end of the season drawing ever closer, transfer rumours will start coming to the fore and yesterday a very unlikely rumour popped up. According to reports in Italy, Sunderland are one of a number of clubs interested in Roma striker Edin Dzeko, as the Italians consider moving on the 33-year-old after a less than stellar season. The reports claim that Everton, West Ham United, Fenerbahce and some Chinese clubs are also interested in the Bosnian international. Dzeko moving to a club who currently reside in League One seems rather unlikely and with our horse punching neighbours recently linked with a move for the striker by Gazzetta dello Sport, itβs likely that this fanciful rumour is is a case of mistaken identity. One to ignore.π π π π π»

www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sunderland-manager-jack-ross-linked-16129407Sunderland manager Jack Ross linked with move away as he's considered for one of two 'top jobs'Sunderand boss Jack Ross is being considered for a Championship job, according to reports. The 42-year-old is reported to be on the list to take on the West Brom role which became vacant after the sacking of Darren Moore. The Sun reports that West Brom will turn to Black Cats manager Ross if they fail to secure their first choice - Preston manager Alex Neil. Given that Neil signed a new three-year deal yesterday with Preston, ironically after his side were beat 4-1 by West Brom - the chances of the Baggies securing him look slim. Speaking after the game, he commented on the speculation: " I thought that it [the speculation] got to the players. I could see it in their eyes before the match. "It has affected them and it has affected the day for the fans, which I apologise for. "I feel as if I have ruined the day for the supporters. People write what they want and then it grows arms and legs." The report in The Sun also goes onto to claim that Ross is being considered by the Scottish FA to replace Scotland boss Alex McLeish who is under pressure after several poor results.

www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/west-brom-next-manager-albion-16129229West Brom next manager: Albion set to turn to Sunderland's Jack Ross- reportsIt is now over a month since Darren Moore was relieved of his duties as West Bromwich Albion 's head coach. When Moore left The Hawthorns at the start of March, many Albion fans were under the impression that the club must have had a replacement lined up. That assumption has now proved incorrect as caretaker boss Jimmy Shan's tenure in the dugout has gone on and on. It was expected that Alex Neil was going to be formally approached this week, but the Preston manager committed his future to the club when he signed a new three year deal. The latest name being linked with the main job is Sunderland's Jack Ross. Ross is only in his first season on Wearside but has impressed as he has finally stabilised The Mackems after a number of tumultuous seasons. The Sunderland Echo have reported that Albion chiefs could be set to turn to the 42-year-old. The Mackems were on the wrong end of a nine goal thriller with Coventry last weekend, but are firmly entrenched in the League One playoff places. Shan remains the overwhelming favourite to stay in the hot seat, with Neil still the most fancied external appointment
