‘He’s cost us 3 points’ – These Sunderland fans are not happy with 26-y/o after Burton drawSunderland were held 1-1 last night at the Stadium of Light by a resolute Burton Albion side.
The Brewers were fresh from a 3-1 victory against Barnsley, as well as having lost just twice in their last 13 matches, but the Black Cats were still hopeful of strengthening their grip on the League One promotion chase.
Instead, they had to settle for a point and it could have been worse. Trailing to an early Lewis Morgan own goal, it took a set piece header from Jack Baldwin to earn them a share of the spoils.
They did have their chances though, but a wastefulness in front of goal saw them fail to secure all three points. One of the worst offenders was summer signing Charlie Wyke.
He bagged his first league goal since September in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Rochdale, but struggled to find a rhythm last night a missed a couple of chances.
That’s brought Sunderland fans to social media to issue their anger at his performance and all round contribution since signing from Bradford.
442 means Wyke plays, and more often than not that means wasted opportunities. We created enough to win, what was a tight game, against a well organised and very fit side. Probably should have won by a couple of goals, but they fell to Wyke and he's just not very good is he.

Thought Charlie Wyke had a torrid game must have had 40 balls knocked up to him a won hardly any out jumped by smaller players and his control was woefull

We only drew, we are only second, we now only have one game in hand, we had a tough game against a very good team, we were a goal down but again fought back, yes Wyke should have had a hatrick but at least he is getting there, our center backs are division one standard, surprise.
