So WHY.
Over my lifetime I've watched some brilliants Scottish Teams, fillied with outstanding Players.
Adequate keepers, and defenders who could grace any side in the Country. Some awsome centre halves and midfielders with atackers that were a pleasure to watch. And from somewhere came an unending supply of tricky wingers.
Then, as if by a curse, the well ran dry.
If ever ther was a case for an Enquirey , trying to find the answer to 'Whats gone Wrong with Scottish Football' must be high on the list. And it can't all be blamed on Rangers and Celtic.

There still are some good Scottish footballers, and many have been produced throughout recent history, but they haven't all been around at the same time. There have been fewer than there used to be, unfortunately, but timing of the more recently outstanding ones has been the main problem. We'll just have to rely on memories of Leighton, McQueen, Hansen, Souness, Ally, Dalglish, Law, Slim Jim et al 'cos there are none of these types now

McGinn and Robertson are good players, but were made to look ordinary by Israel.
Gordon, you forgot to mention Kerr, Porterfield, Hughes , Allan Johnston Rae 🙄😄

Something MUST have changed. Lack of interst in The Schools? Lack of faccilities for Youth Football. I don't know the answer, but If I was still an avid Fan I'd want to know, -- A - Whats gone wrong. B - How can it be put right.

It's not just Scotland Poly, the whole UK is the same, English press over over hype the young English players like Delle Ali, Dyer and many more, stating they are 'World Class' where they are just decent players when you see them play against other decent players. There's no kids in the strees or parks playing football, with a tennis ball 🙄, playing with a small ball hones your ball skills. More interested in computer games.

Do schools still play football during PE?
Do schools still have a school team for each year?
I thought all this stopped in the 80’s when everyone and their dad started legal actions against schools for the slightest minor injuries? The so-called claims culture.

Haven't fallen as far as the likes of Hungary & Austria.
There was an article in the Sunday Post a fair few years ago bemoaning the cheap foreign imports to the Scottish game. This may have dried up, but when you look at the majority of teams in the SPL they are still made up of third rate English league failures. They are hardly likely inspire a new generation of players.
From a personal view point, I would also say that the way Scottish teams play is now a tad old fashioned. Most teams still play at 100 miles per hour, get the ball wide & throw crosses into the box. Football needs variety in styles & rewards itself by bringing through players with different attributes. When you all play the same way the well is not too deep talent wise. Scottish footy needs to look at itself & change the way it plays if it wants to discover new talent.
