Chelsea made it three Premier League wins in a row this afternoon, narrowly beating Newcastle United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues were thoroughly expected to ease past Steve Bruce's side, but it threatened to be a frustrating afternoon as Chelsea made them work hard for their win.
Left back Marcos Alonso pounced to score after 73 minutes, finally breaking Newcastle's resistance, which had seen Martin Dubravka make save after save.
With 71% of possession, 16 shots on goal and 11 corners, Chelsea clearly dominated the game, and Alonso gave them the win they deserved over a battling Newcastle side.
Chelsea sit fifth after that win, whilst Newcastle are back in the relegation zone after Southampton's draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Alonso will be particularly delighted with his role in the win.
Alonso spent part of 2014 on loan with Newcastle's bitter rivals Sunderland, and that was a fact that wasn't lost on the travelling Magpies faithful.

Newcastle fans chanted about Alonso today, with 'you're just a sad Mackem *******' being aimed in his direction at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
Alonso clearly saw the funny side, posting a host of laughing emoijs whilst sending the tweet to Sunderland, which resulted in Black Cats fans professing their love for the Spaniard, more than five years since he last played for the club.
