Wilson Isidor: 'Luke O'Nien lives for the Club'
Wilson Isidor has namechecked the player who has already created a lasting impact on him since he joined Sunderland last month.
The French forward has made two appearances for the first-team since making a season-long loan move to Wearside.
Isidor has settled into his new environment with flying colours and has become a popular member of the squad.
But the 24-year-old has identified the man, dubbed ‘Mr Sunderland’, as someone who continuously demonstrates leadership qualities.
“In the team, we have got a lot of talent,” he said. “Who made an impact on me early was Luke O’Nien. You feel that the guy lives for the Club.
“He is so involved in everything on the pitch and off the pitch for the group. He is a really really big leader. His quality made an impact on me the most when I came to the Club.”
Speaking at a recent talk-in event at the Stadium of Light, Wilson’s words clearly show he is already enjoying his time on Wearside.
Asked what he likes about being at Sunderland, Isidor answered: “The fans. The history of the Club. The stadium. We can all like a lot of things about the Club. The jersey is also a beautiful colour. It’s the biggest Club in the North East of England.”
Régis Le Bris and the squad will be looking to right the wrongs of the weekend’s loss to Plymouth Argyle when they welcome North East neighbours Middlesbrough to the Stadium of Light this weekend.
With Le Bris putting the players through their paces during the week once again, Isidor added: “He is a really good coach. He doesn’t need to talk too much to make us understand his ideas. When he says something, he doesn’t need to say it twice for you to understand.
“He has great ideas and as a group, we all like them. He is a really good coach.”
