linkSunderland determined to hire English manager Eddie Howe thinks is ‘incredible’Sunderland are keen on hiring Will Still as their new manager, HITC understands. Sources have told HITC that Sunderland‘s first choice to be their next head coach is English sensation Will Still. Sunderland tried and failed to strike a deal for the Stade de Reims manager earlier this season when they parted company with Tony Mowbray. The Black Cats sacked Mowbray in December and appointed former Rangers boss Michael Beale as his replacement. Things did not work out for the former Queens Park Rangers manager at the Stadium of Light. On Monday, Sunderland decided to sack him after just two months. Beale was in charge of the Black Cats for just 12 games. He lost six of them, including a 3-0 defeat to rivals Newcastle United at the Stadium of Light in the FA Cup in January. Sunderland have installed Mike Dodds as interim manager of the first team until the end of the season. Sunderland keen on hiring Will Still The Black Cats, who are aiming to win promotion from the Championship to the Premier League, are going to use this time to assess their options, but HITC has been told that Still is the man they want to take over the helm at the Stadium of Light. However, getting Still this season was not practical given Stade de Reims’s current form in Ligue 1. They are eighth in the Ligue 1 table at the moment with 31 points from 22 matches, just seven points behind fourth-placed Lille. Still would not consider leaving at this point. Still is just 31. He was born to and brought up by English parents in Belgium and has been making headlines for a while. The Englishman took over from Oscar Garcia on October 13, 2022 as the head coach of Reims and led them to 17-game unbeaten run in the league. Reims finished 11th in the Ligue 1 table last season and are very likely to fare better this time this time around. One of the most intriguing things about Still, who is said to be a West Ham United fan, is that his introduction to football came after he spent hours on the computer game Football Manager. Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is a big fan of Still, and while noting similarities between his journey in football management to that of the Reims boss, he raved about his English compatriot. ChronicleLive quotes Howe as saying about Still in March 2023: “He has certainly done very well. It is very difficult to do at that age. “I started at 31, I felt at that moment I knew what I was doing. I am talking about my own experiences here. I realised a few years later that I probably didn’t. I have learned as I have gone on, the whole of range of things you need to be successful as a manager. “That’s just my journey. I’m not sure on Will’s background and how he’s built his career to this point but very impressive to be managing at his age. “The success he’s had has been incredible. Are managers getting younger? I’m not sure if that’s a fact or not. But certainly it is a very demanding job

link“Total lack of respect” – Pundit lays into Sunderland linked manager after recent outing, completely ‘ungrateful’To say the timing of Will Still’s interview with The Athletic, three days after Michael Beale’s sacking at Sunderland, was coincidental might be giving the manager a bit too much credit, but it certainly made the waves he was hoping for. The Stade de Reims head coach was already a target for the Black Cats in December after their parting of ways with Tony Mowbray, but the fact they had to pay to get him put the Championship side off, preferring to bring in a free agent instead. That didn’t work, as Beale was sacked after just 12 games in charge, but Still’s decision to have the interview with the American outlet immediately reignited all the feelings that were swirling around in December when he was initially linked, and its contents haven’t gone down well in France, as Jérémy Rothen had some choice words to send to the manager on Rothen S’enflamme on RMC Sport. Recalling that Still is under contract with the Ligue 1 side until 2025, the former footballer turned pundit pointed out his issues with the situation. He said: “It’s problematic, because there was a lot of talk back in December when he came out for the first time with the whole Sunderland thing, if I remember correctly. He explained that he was focused on Stade de Reims, but that’s completely false. “A few months later, three months later, he drops an interview like this one when you have a project that could still be interesting at Reims, at least until the end of the season. “Then you tell us that from June, regardless of what happens, your head is turned while you have a year left on your contract. If I were President Caillot: I offered him the role without his diplomas, paid a fine, gave him the chance to manage the first team, and you sabotage me like that? It’s more than being ungrateful. “I think he’s disconnected from what’s happening. Go back two years, I think if he really remembered where he comes from and where he was then, he wouldn’t speak like this. A complete lack of respect for Stade de Reims.” Sunderland have already made it clear they would not be hiring a new manager until the end of the season, handing Mike Dodds the interim role for the time being. Therefore, with Still making it clear he wants to come back to England as well as being open to a team in the Championship with the right project, we are bound to have a lot of talk regarding a potential move to the Stadium of Light in the coming months. Either way, many in France aren’t happy with the way he has handled matters, and it will be interesting to see how Reims react to all this publicly in the next few weeks.

Hope they sack him 😄😄😄😄
Then he'll be a free agent if we want him, to be honest, never heard of the guy, but then again, I had never heard of Arsen Wenger

linkFormer Newcastle United captain emerges as shock favourite to become next Sunderland managerScott Parker has been out of work since losing his job at Clubb Brugge last season Former Newcastle United captain Scott Parker is now the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Michael Beale at Sunderland. The Black Cats pulled the trigger on Beale after just 12 games last week. A heavy defeat to Newcastle just five fixtures into his tenure provided an early indication of how the appointment would turn out. Losing 1-0 to Huddersfield Town 10 days ago proved fatal and forced Sunderland chiefs - who received flak for sacking Tony Mowbray in December - into a rethink. There were no signs of an instant bounce at the weekend as the Black Cats, now sitting eight points outside the play-off spots, slumped to a 2-1 home defeat to Swansea City. Talk about Sunderland’s next appointment had cooled but bookies are now backing a shock front-runner in the race. Ex-Toon skipper Parker has been out of work since losing his job at Club Brugge last season. His last job in English football came at Bournemouth, where he was sacked just four games into the 2022-23 campaign after leading them to promotion. Parker also won the Championship play-off final as Fulham manager in 2020. But his Newcastle allegiances may prove an obstacle for Sunderland supporters. The 43-year-old spent two years on Tyneside during the mid-00s, taking over the armband in 2006 following Alan Shearer’s retirement. Managers who have crossed the divide in recent times include Sam Allardyce and Steve Bruce. Parker is priced at just 7/4 by some bookmakers - ahead of Frank Lampard (2/1), Will Still (3/1) and Paul Heckingbottam (7/2).

linkSunderland could welcome back four-time promotion winner to replace Michael BealeAnother unemployed manager has thrown their name into the mix to take the Sunderland managerial vacancy in the summer. It has been a week since Michael Beale was sacked following the Black Cats’ 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City. As expected, the club immediately appointed Mike Dodds as interim head coach until the end of the season, having previously enjoyed two wins in three games prior to Beale’s arrival. However, having lost his first game in charge to Swansea City in embarrassing fashion over the weekend, fans’ hopes of reaching the playoffs are rapidly decreasing. Focus now appears to be turning to next season, and the first step in preparation is bringing in the right manager. Sunderland’s owners have so far looked to proven but underwhelming appointments like Alex Neil and Tony Mowbray, though they both exceeded expectations at the Stadium of Light. While reports claim that the Black Cats will this time look to bring in Will Still from Reims, one manager is hoping he can be given a second chance on Wearside. According to journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon, Alex Neil is ‘open’ to a return to Sunderland – 18 months after leaving. The 42-year-old joined Sunderland just over two years ago and guided the club to the Championship after four years in the third tier. However, it was only a few months after the playoff final that he jumped ship and left for Stoke City. Should Sunderland even consider Alex Neil? Alex Neil did a brilliant job on Wearside and could have worked wonders with the team he had in the Championship, but Sunderland fans will be glad of his departure due to the success and excitement that Tony Mowbray brought in. A majority of Black Cats supporters have a strong dislike for Neil after he ditched us at the first opportunity he got for a bit of extra cash. Stoke City was never a step up from Sunderland – in fact it was arguably a downgrade. He tried to explain his reasoning but we all knew why. Now he has been sacked and is looking for forgiveness, when we all know he wouldn’t have batted an eyelid if he was still in a job at the bet365 Stadium. It would be disrespectful to the fans and it would be embarrassing to the club if we were to allow him straight back in. I would also be amazed if he managed to do half as well as he did the second time round. The past is in the past, onto Will Still or Steve Cooper please.

living in Leicestershire the BBC local news programme at 6:30 covers Nottingham as well so Steve Cooper was on a couple of times a week and I really liked his honesty. I would be happy to go forward with him - he likes to play attacking football too. 👍

What worries me is their plan to bring in young players, improve them and sell on for huge profit IS working. So I see the current shit-show continuing until someone comes in to buy the club from the current owner, which will be years and years away.

What I was trying to say, those two lads were at the club before the owner took charge of the club. The young players they have brought in I.e. Pembele, Hemir, Rusyn, Aouchie etc. We will be lucky to give them away never mind making money from them 😆
