SAFCLeague clash at Ipswich Town awaitsSunderland return to the Sky Bet Championship this weekend for an early evening kick-off against Ipswich Town. The sixth placed Lads travel to the second placed Tractor Boys for the reserve tie of our opening game of the season. Here is all you need to know ahead of the game: Opposition Kieran McKennaβs side currently sit second in the table, ten points behind current league leaders Leicester City and three points ahead of third placed Southampton. McKenna was appointed in December 2021 and spearheaded the club to promotion from League One going up as runners-up. Ipswich are second highest scorers in the division on 48 goals so far with Conor Chaplin and former Sunderland forward Nathan Broadhead both leading the clubβs goalscoring charts with eight goals each in all competitions. Portman Road has seen Ipswich Town lose just one game this season having lost 4-3 against Leeds United. On the Lads last visit to Suffolk, Sunderland earned themselves a 1-1 draw in their promotion season back in 2021 with Broadhead on the scoresheet for the Black Cats. Team News Defender Dennis Cirkin has undergone surgery on his left hamstring. The 21-year-old, who last featured in November, is now expected to be out of action for a minimum of 12 weeks, as he starts a rehabilitation programme at the Academy of Light. After suffering a significant knee injury during the festive period, Niall Huggins has also undergone surgery and the defender will miss at least the remainder of the campaign. Forward Bradley Dack is continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury, with Patrick Roberts expected to return from a calf injury next month. Corry Evans continues to step up his rehabilitation from a long-term knee injury.

Team News Ray will be over the moon that Ba starts - and not only does he start, but he starts as lone striker π

No I won't π₯Ά That's the reason I will not support Beale, he hasn't got a clue. Ba has to be one our worst players in the squad. I honestly don't know what the coaches see in him. Saying that, I hope he scores a couple π Then I might get off his back, but if he does, I'll show my arse in Binns window next time I'm down π

Jobe is playing up front. π€¦π»ββοΈ
There's an actual striker sitting on the bench... The one that scored against Preston, but no, put a midfielder up front instead.
Then playing ba... The same player when given a chance, balloons it high and wide and constantly gives the ball away.
Ridiculous

But it's not just Beale who is clueless, Mowbray was not any better, think TM was more stubborn and trying to make a point to the owners by not playing a striker, Beale is a different kettle of fish.

Jobe gets caught time and time again by not passing or releasing the ball, he wants to turn with the ball every time
