If I'm honest, I can't see why footballers cannot place bets, as long as it didn't include their current team or games.

If I'm honest, I can't see why footballers cannot place bets, as long as it didn't include their current team or games. Too easy to get round the rules of not betting on your own game. It's easy to get around any gambling. A good friend of mine used to put bets on for a very well known Scottish snooker player. A lot of the senior players really didn't want to go to the likes of Thailand etc to plat in competitions. This player would phone my pal sometimes in the middle of the night and tell him to put a bet on for him, for him to get beat, say 7 frames to 5 the lad would get knocked out the next day 7-5 and fly home. They had to enter these competitions to keep their card. Used to say to him, give me a buzz when he calls, but he wouldn't do it π
