Stewart Donald comments on Lamine Kone’s Sunderland future

Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has suggested on the Roker Rapport podcast that Lamine Kone will not be at the club next season.
Kone has been on the books of Sunderland since January 2016 when he joined from French club Lorient for a transfer fee reported by The Sunderland Echo to be worth £5 million.
The 30-year-old central defender joined French club Strasbourg on a season-long loan deal from the Black Cats in the summer of 2018.
According to WhoScored, the Ivory Coast international has made 20 starts and two substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Strasbourg so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Kone’s current contract with Sunderland is until the summer of 2021.
Sunderland owner Donald has suggested that Strasbourg will take up the option to sign the defender on a permanent contract.

“If that doesn't happen based on what we're being told and how we feel, I think he'll find another club, I'd be amazed if you see Lamine back here in a Sunderland shirt.”
