Could have been played this weekend - doubt either club would have that many players away on international duty.

Just checked to answer my own post 😄 And Grigg, McLaughlin, Morgan and Flanagan are away with their various countries.
So best we don't play - I wouldn't want us going in to a game with either of the other keepers we have between the sticks.

You have to balance the advantage of playing against the personnel lost and in this case I would have agreed with postponing the game.

I assumed that we 'played our joker' and decided to exercise our right not to play the scheduled game on the basis of having too many players away on International duty.

But this puts into perspective how poorly managed we have been this season. What other squad in L1 will have this amount of players as current internationals (isn't McGeady also away?)? Yet we are still scraping draws against teams and hearing excuses about how other teams raise their game.
To me, Ross has looked overwhelmed all season by the size of the club and the responsibility that goes with it. He seems a great man manager but I think he is too nice and his team reflects him - not ruthless enough. He'd be better off with a small, permanently underdog club.

You mean like Sunderland next season 😀

I would have played the game regardless, I think the backlog of fixtures we have is a hinders us more than anything, We would have still had a good enough team to get 3 points and Ruiter would have been allright in goal, he did well in the checkatrade matches I think, would have put him in and played the match.

Think I would as well. Barnsley had two players out & played. Even though I don't believe the team capable of going on a winning run, playing 9 games in 23 days is just plain stupid.
