safcMoore: "You can feel something special"After recording a clean sheet on his league debut for the Club, Simon Moore heaped praise on the rest of the squad for their strong start to the Sky Bet Championship campaign. Goalkeeper Moore replaced the injured Anthony Patterson for the weekend’s 2-0 win over Oxford United at the Stadium of Light. The victory means the Lads currently sit five points clear at the top of the table after 12 games. Reflecting on the weekend win, Moore said: “It couldn’t have gone much better. The Lads made it easy for me!” “We’ve got a really good group of boys here, you can feel something special,” the 34-year-old added. “They are such talented lads and a lot of them have had one or two seasons in the Championship now and you can really see that experience over the last two years coming to the forefront.” The next run of games see Régis Le Bris’ side make trips to Queens Park Rangers and Preston North End before a home game against Coventry City before the November international break. “We’ve just got to keep working hard, keep doing what we are doing. For me personally though, it was a special day to make my debut for the football club.” Moore was speaking at the Club’s open training session on Tuesday afternoon where over 2,000 supporters came to the Stadium of Light to watch the Lads go through their paces. He said: “It’s been really good. The turnout has been incredible. To see so many fans supporting us shows just how big this football club is.”
