safcHume on impressive start to seasonTrai Hume reflected on Sunderland’s impressive start to the season following their impressive 3-1 win over Portsmouth on Saturday. The Black Cats sit top of the table with 12 points from four games after victories over Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley and Portsmouth. Hume has been part of the defence to keep three clean sheets, with the only goal conceded being a 90th-minute own goal. “We’re enjoying our football and I’m sure you can see that from the performances,” he said. “We’ve been playing on the front foot and being aggressive, and when we’re winning 1-0, we’re trying to get more. “We’re taking it game by game – the Head Coach keeps telling us it’s one game at a time and we can’t look too far ahead. “He’s given us good tactical balance on the pitch. We want to try and press teams, but when we can’t or teams break through that, we’re keeping our shape and staying solid.” The Northern Irishman is now on international duty for fixtures against Luxembourg and Bulgaria in the UEFA Nations League. He continued: “I really enjoy my international football, so I’m focusing on that now. “Hopefully I can go away and play both games and pick up two wins – I’m sure the lads training at the Academy of Light will be working hard for the game against Plymouth.”

All the lads have a confidence and a spring in their step, something we haven't seen for a long time, something Beale and Dodds to an extent knocked out of them.
