Ahmed Abdullahi completes deadline-day move
Sunderland AFC is delighted to announce the signing of Ahmed Abdullahi, subject to international clearance.
Hailing from Nigeria, the 20-year-old striker arrives from KAA Gent for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year contract with a Club option of an additional year.
Abdullahi spent last season with Jong KAA Gent, scoring 21 goals in 28 1ste Nationale appearances.
The Nigeria Under-20 international is the latest attacking recruit to move to Wearside this summer, following the arrivals of winger Ian Poveda, striker Wilson Isidor, and attacking midfielder Milan Aleksic.
Kristjaan Speakman: “We are delighted to welcome Ahmed to Sunderland. He is a natural centre forward, who enjoys playing in central areas, in addition to being an excellent finisher. He has an impressive goalscoring record at youth level and he recently stepped up into Gent’s senior team. We will give him time to settle and support him in that process, but he will bring immediate competition to our attacking line and we look forward to seeing him grow with us throughout the season and beyond.”
Abdullahi’s arrival at the Stadium of Light concludes the Club’s incoming summer transfer activity.
