safcIsidor: 'I want to play and give everything'Wilson Isidor has been relaying his excitement about joining the Club and admits there was no hesitation in deciding to move to Wearside. Isidor became the Lads’ fifth signing of the summer joining from Zenit St Petersburg on loan until the end of the season. The French forward comes in to bolster the attacking options having spent time with Zenit, Monaco and Lokomotiv Moscow, scoring 19 goals in the process. “For me, it was really easy. When I found out that Sunderland wanted me, I did not hesitate for one second,” he said. “We watched the series on Netflix so I knew that this Club was so big with a lot of fans. When clubs like that want you, you don’t hesitate so for me it was natural to take this decision.” Isidor comes into the club with a mutual connection to Head Coach Régis Le Bris who coached at youth level with Rennes. “The Coach comes from the same city as me” Isidor revealed. “He was the coach of the youth team at my first club but he was before me so he didn’t train me. I heard about him, about his quality of coaching, about how he prepares the group and how he wins games. “Now is the time for the real meeting between me and him. I can’t wait to start with him.” With the move wrapped up before the closure of the summer transfer window, the striker is anxious to hit the ground running in a Sunderland shirt. Especially on home soil. “I cannot wait to see the stadium full and singing my name after one goal” he continued. “I hope that everything will go well for me and I can make the fans happy. “I just want to play and give everything for the team on the pitch.”

safcIsidor arrives on WearsideSunderland AFC is delighted to announce the signing of Wilson Isidor, subject to international clearance. The 23-year-old forward has moved to Wearside on loan for the 2024-25 season, joining from FC Zenit Saint Petersburg. An option to make the transfer permanent following the conclusion of the campaign is included within the terms of the agreement. Isidor said: "I’m so happy to be here and sign for Sunderland. It is an amazing club with a huge fanbase – and when a club like that wants you, it feels amazing. I didn’t hesitate. It was a natural decision. I always knew Sunderland was a big Club, so I can’t wait to get started and to see the Stadium of Light full. Hopefully, I can get the fans chanting my name.” Kristjaan Speakman: "Wilson's a mobile and athletic forward, who possesses senior experience and a healthy goalscoring record at the top level. We feel he's a good fit with our playing identity and he has the attributes to help the team in forward areas. He's excited to be here and we look forward to helping him settle in." Isidor moved to Zenit on loan in September 2023 and featured 21 times last season, winning the Russian Premier League, Russian Cup, and Russian Super Cup. After moving to Saint Petersburg permanently earlier this summer, he has started the season with two goals in five substitute appearances. Born in France, Isidor started his career with Rennes under the watchful eye of Régis Le Bris. He moved to Monaco in 2018 and made his senior debut later that year, whilst also spending time on loan with Stade Lavallois and FC Borgo during his time with Les Rouge et Blanc. Isidor joined Lokomotiv Moscow in January 2022 and scored at least once in each of his first six appearances, equalling a league record. He was named the Russian Premier League’s Player of the Month in April 2022 and ended his time in the capital with 19 goals in 42 appearances before moving to Zenit last summer.

It's also amazing that the players, and Le Bris himself, can manage to speak English so eloquently when Mowbray kept complaining he couldn't make himself understood, tha knars
