Mundle starts as Ballard, Browne and Poveda named on bench
Patrick Roberts will make his 100th appearance for Sunderland in today’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against Burnley.
The 27-year-old, who assisted Dennis Cirkin’s opener against Sheffield Wednesday last Sunday, will continue to occupy the right flank as Regis Le Bris makes just one change from that starting XI, with Romaine Mundle coming in for Jack Clarke.
Dan Ballard returns to the substitutes bench after recovering from a knee injury sustained in the Lads’ opening pre-season friendly, while midfielder Alan Browne comes back into the squad following his recovery from injury.
Ian Poveda has also been named among the substitutes for the first time since joining the Club.
Sunderland: Patterson, Hume, Alese, O’Nien, Cirkin, Neil (c), Rigg, Jobe, Mundle, Roberts, Mayenda.
