www.safc.com/news/team-news/2019/may/wyke-on-southend-defeatWyke determined to make amendsCharlie Wyke has admitted Sunderland must address what’s gone wrong in recent weeks and ensure they are ready to go in next Saturday’s first-leg play-off semi-final against Portsmouth. The Black Cats rounded off their Sky Bet League One campaign with two defeats at Fleetwood Town and Southend United to see them slip to fifth. That’s resulted in Jack Ross’ side facing Portsmouth at the Stadium of Light next Saturday before travelling to the south coast on Thursday 16 May to see who progresses to the Wembley final at the end of the month. Speaking to safc.com, Wyke voiced his disappointment and insisted improvements must be made if the lads are to taste success this season. “We have let a lot of people down including ourselves and we have just got to work hard now to fix it for the next game,” he said. “All we can do now is prepare for Portsmouth, address it on Monday and see where we go from there. “We know what we need to do now,” he continued. “We have to win three games to have success. “It’s up to us to go and do that and we’ll work hard over the coming days to make sure we get a good start on Saturday.”

when did we last manage to win three games in a row 😖 We don't have to win three on the bounce. A win, draw, win or draw, win, win would be suffice........................Anyone got a straw I can clutch?

Wyke battles and gives 100% but he needs to be putting the big chances away rather than missing them, Wyke and Maguire up front would be my preferred striking options.

What about Sterling? - I thought he looked a handful in the short time he had on at the weekend.

What about Sterling? - I thought he looked a handful in the short time he had on at the weekend. I would play him as well Les, with Griggs, then we wouldn't resort to hoofing the ball up, their two central defenders are big lads, they won most balls in the air last time out

Wyke did nothing useful again yesterday - ok he put himself about and roughed the defenders up and had to feed off scraps but there were chances and he failed to take them in a game where chances were always going to be few and far between.
I was disappointed not to see Sterling get some game time, unfortunately he didn't even make the bench.
Once Ozturk was sent off there was no way, with us holding a 1-0 lead that a creative player would be brought on.
